Mail by the Pail

In the port city of Manistee on the coast of Lake Michigan, lives a girl named Mary. Her father is a sailor who works on a lake freighter. He will not be home for his birthday this year and Mary wants to send him a card. His mail is not delivered normally, but is delivered by pail instead.
