A Father's Last Message Before Entering Hell: The Untold Story of October 7thWhen Israeli reservist Nimrod Palmach recorded a goodbye message to his children on October 7, 2023, he had nine bullets and a pistol against an army of Hamas terrorists. What followed became one of the most harrowing firsthand accounts of modern warfare—and an unforgettable testament to courage, love, and survival. Rebel Heart takes readers inside the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust. With the cinematic intensity of Black Hawk Down and the emotional depth of Unbroken, Palmach recounts his unauthorized 15-hour firefight across burning kibbutzim, where he witnessed unspeakable atrocities and fought alongside strangers who became brothers. From the Alumim junction massacre to the siege of Be'eri, this minute-by-minute narrative captures both the tactical reality of close-quarters combat and the human cost of terrorism. But this is more than a war story. It's about a father's love that transcended death, a soldier's defiance of impossible odds, and a witness who refuses to let history be denied. Palmach's journey from combat to global testimony—speaking at the German Bundestag, creating virtual reality experiences for university campuses, and confronting Holocaust survivors at Auschwitz—reveals how October 7th connects to centuries of Jewish persecution while illuminating universal truths about courage and human dignity. For readers of 13 Hours, Lone Survivor, and The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Rebel Heart offers an urgent, deeply personal chronicle of a day that changed Israel forever. With a foreword by Douglas Murray, this memoir transforms tragedy into testimony and darkness into an unbreakable commitment to life, love, and the future.
