This deeply moving debut collection is where poetry and history meet. Connie Roberts recounts her childhood in one of Ireland's most notorious industrial schools, coming to terms with this experience and examining the roles played by those around her. A poetic bildungsroman, we follow her life from orphanage to adulthood and work where she looks back without sentimentality and profound brutality.
