Exposes the legendary "Great White Lodge" as a web of real historical figures hidden behind one of the most enduring mysteries in occult history. Who were the mysterious "Masters" behind Madame Blavatsky and the rise of Theosophy—and were they ever supernatural at all? In The Masters Revealed, K. Paul Johnson challenges one of the most enduring mysteries of modern occult history. Drawing on meticulous research and a wealth of overlooked historical evidence, Johnson strips away layers of legend to explore a startling alternative: that Blavatsky's famed Mahatmas were not disembodied adepts, but real men and women embedded in the political, intellectual, and spiritual currents of the nineteenth century. Moving with the pace of an intellectual detective story, Johnson traces connections across three continents, revealing how revolutionary thinkers, spiritual reformers, nationalist leaders, and eccentric visionaries may have been recast as the hidden "Masters" guiding the Theosophical movement.Equal parts biography, historical investigation, and investigative inquiry, Johnson reconstructs a hidden network of influence behind one of the most controversial spiritual movements of the modern era.（State University of New York Press）
