George MacDonald (1824-1905), the great nineteenth-century innovator of modern fantasy, influenced literary masters, such as Charles Williams and J R R Tolkien. Containing some of MacDonald's finest short works, this volume includes the tale about growing up, becoming old and facing death with a certainty of personal immortality.
