Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bible

Six of the seven chapters of this book began as Speaker's Lectures that VanderKam (Hebrew scripture, U. of Notre Dame) delivered at Oxford University in May 2009. He has changed pronouns, tinkered with the texts, and added footnotes and an index. He offers a broad overview of major subjects in the area of the scrolls and the Bible, especially ones that have interested him over the past several decades. His topics are the "biblical" scrolls and the implications; commentary on older scripture in the scrolls; authoritative literature according to the scrolls; new copies of old texts; groups and group controversies in the scrolls; the Dead Sea Scrolls and the New Testament Gospels; and the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Acts of the Apostles, and the letters of Paul.
