Wildfell : A page-turning contemporary novel of gothic suspense.

A contemporary gothic suspense novel about a runaway graduate student who takes refuge in an English mansion with a history of disappearances. Haunted-house atmosphere, unreliable charmers and slow-creep dread north of London. She Came to Disappear. The House Had Other Plans. After a traumatic experience with her graduate school professor, Anne Fleming disposes of all her possessions, boards a plane, and plans to check out of life. A chance meeting on an international flight leads her to Wildfell, a gothic mansion north of London. At first glance, Wildfell seems like the perfect place to hide out, and Anne is intrigued by its strange atmosphere and its history of disappearances and deaths. Soon, echoing voices, ghostly mists, a mute girl with a sketchbook full of murders, and a possessive landlady bring her face to face with her deepest fears. Anne's budding romance with gorgeous Irish actor Bain Tierney holds her to the house. But when Wildfell's tenants begin disappearing and dying, Anne no longer knows whether she can trust Bain, whether anyone in the house is who they claim to be, or whether the walls themselves will ever let her leave. Wildfell is a standalone novel of gothic suspense, for readers who love haunted mansions, unreliable lovers and slow-burn supernatural dread. Perfect for fans of Simone St. James, Catriona Ward and Carol Goodman.
