In a small Kentucky town, Mudas Summers and her friend Bobby Marshall set out to prove that Mudas' mother did not commit suicide, as they uncover secrets about her mother's past and about another town resident, Roy McGee, who had suspicious ties to town politicians and the Ku Klux Klan.
