A medical anthropologist and a Dominican priest and theologian from Peru would initially seem to have little in common. Yet Farmer (Harvard U.) and Gutiřrez (a key figure in liberation theology) both strongly agree that preferential treatment for the poor should remain the key goal of all of their undertakings in Latin America. They join forces here in producing a work that runs from the medical resources available to the less affluent, to walking in the footsteps of Christ. Chapters written by each of them are exchanged throughout, until the closing one which comes from a mutual interview that took place in 2011.
