Although German is primarily her mother language and her home is basically in Austria, several times in her childhood she spent a few months in the Kurdish highlands which left a lasting impression upon her. It was then that she developed a great affection for the Kurdish language! Her father being a highly-educated Kurdish man, there was always access to literature and languages at home. Over the years, however, there was a great desire to become more intensively involved with her paternal cultural heritage and language. Isabella Bêrîvan is married with two children, is a primary school teacher, is almost finished her bachelor's in Psychology and is currently working on her first book of poetry in Kurdish-German language.
