"The Cruise of the Noah's Ark" by David Cory is a whimsical tale that follows the adventures of a young girl named Marjorie who finds herself aboard a magical version of Noah's Ark. The story begins with Marjorie feeling bored with her copybook exercises, only to be invited by Mr. Noah to join the Ark as it prepares for a deluge. As the Ark sets sail, Marjorie encounters a host of anthropomorphic animals and the Noah family, including Mr. and Mrs. Noah and their three sons, Ham, Shem, and Japheth. The narrative unfolds with a series of delightful escapades, including a circus performance put on by the animals and the crew, a run-in with a mysterious megaphone that fines them for speeding, and a dramatic rescue of a little red ant that falls overboard. The Ark's journey is not without peril, as they face a fire on board and later become stranded on an iceberg. Throughout these challenges, Marjorie and the crew work together to ensure the safety and well-being of all aboard. The story is rich with humor, imagination, and the charm of classic children's literature, offering readers a blend of adventure and moral lessons.
